Oklahoma author to lead writing workshop in Norman
NORMAN — Aspiring writers will get a chance to learn from a best-selling author at a writing workshop June 16 in Norman.
William Bernhardt, best known for writing the “Ben Kincaid” series, will be teaching two sessions at Mainsite Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council, 122 E Main Street. The program is free.
Both sessions will focus on premise and writing style.
“What I've found is that when people are writing and pitching to editors and nobody is interested, there is either a problem with the premise or the writing style,” Bernhardt said. “They can expect me to give them ideas on how to make the premise more attractive and I will help them bring their writing up to a publishable level.”
Bernhardt has taught writing seminars in Oklahoma for years because he said it is difficult for writers in Oklahoma to get their work published.
Both seminars will be on June 16. The first will be from 9 a.m. to noon followed by the same session again from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The program has expanded to include two sessions this year because of the overwhelming response to the program last year.
