Oklahoma Baptists get set for evangelism event

The Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma's State Evangelism Conference is set for Monday and Tuesday at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S Pennsylvania Ave. in Oklahoma City.

The Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma will host its State Evangelism Conference Monday and Tuesday at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S Pennsylvania Ave. in Oklahoma City.

Theme for the event is “Serve like Jesus” and convention leaders said they expect more than 1,000 people from across the state to attend. The convention is Oklahoma's affiliate of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The evangelism conference is free and open to people of all faiths to come and participate in sessions designed for spiritual renewal.

Speakers include the Rev. Tony Evans, author, radio show host and senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, who will speak at a session set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Other speakers and special guests are: the Rev. Kevin Clarkson, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Moore; the Rev. Roger Spradlin, pastor of Valley Baptist Church in Bakersfield, Calif.; Steve Stroope, lead pastor of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas; Lauren Chandler, singer/songwriter; Ed Newton, staff evangelist at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tenn.; Doug Miller, pastor of Southeast Baptist in Muskogee; Roc Collins, pastor of Indian Springs Baptist Church in Kingsport, Tenn.; and Bob Bender, senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Black Forest, Colo.
