MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State scored the deciding run on a passed ball Friday night and beat Oklahoma 6-5 to win the Big 12 regular season baseball championship. The Wildcats, winning their first conference baseball title since 1933, had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth inning, when OU catcher Anthony Hermelyn let a Jacob Evans pitch roll to the backstop.

Tanner Witt, who opened the inning with a walk, scored from third base to set off a celebration behind home plate at Tointon Family Stadium. The K-State rally came a half-inning after OU tied the score with a one-out home run from Jack Mayfield.

The Wildcats (38-15 overall, 15-7 Big 12) will be the No. 1 seed when the Big 12 Baseball Tournament starts Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Oklahoma (35-18, 12-10) led 3-0 after four innings and 4-0 after 5½ innings when Kansas State began its comeback. The Wildcats scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and one each in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

Hermelyn and Garrett Carey had three hits each for OU. Hermelyn added an RBI and scored twice.
