— West Virginia scored five runs with two outs in eighth inning to seal a 9-3 Big 12 baseball win over Oklahoma on Saturday at Appalachian Power Park.

After allowing two base hits to begin his outing, OU's Jake Fisher (1-2) retired 16 straight Mountaineers with the help of two double plays, but still took the loss. He allowed four runs, but only one was earned.

Oklahoma (34-13,11-6 Big 12) closed the gap to 4-3 in the top of the seventh after getting three straight two-out singles from Craig Aikin, Max White and Matt Oberste, who batted in Aikin.

Pitching in relief, Ralph Garza got two outs to start the eighth inning, but the Mountaineers (28-20,10-7) then scored five runs on six hits, including a two-run home run by Ryan McBroom.

The series concludes at noon Sunday.
