Oklahoma basketball notebook: Kansas State's Bruce Weber advocates Big 12 scheduling tweaks after OU win

Kansas State coach Bruce Weber was not as big of a fan of the schedule and it's tough to blame him — the Wildcats were the only Big 12 team to play two teams coming off a week's rest this season.

Woodard hit all four of his free throws to tie the school record by free throws by a freshman with 134.

The record is also held by Wayman Tisdale (1983) and Jeff Webster (1991).

Woodard also had five assists to move into a tie for third in freshman assists for the Sooners with 126. He tied Tim McCalister (1984). Tommy Mason-Griffin holds the freshman school record with 154 assists in 2010.

Woodard had 10 points and just one turnover in 23 minutes and was 2 of 3 from behind the 3-point line.


The Sooners don't get much of a breather, traveling to play league-leading Kansas at 8 p.m. Monday on ESPN.

Oklahoma played the Jayhawks tough on Jan. 8 in Norman, falling 90-83.

The Sooners have lost 12 consecutive games at Allen Fieldhouse, stretching back more than 20 years.

The last time Oklahoma won at Kansas was Feb. 17, 1993, when the unranked Sooners beat the No. 6 Jayhawks 80-77.


After scoring just two on 1-of-9 shooting at Kansas State, senior forward Cam Clark was 5 of 9 from the floor with 11 points and eight rebounds. … OU's bench scored 23 points, their fifth consecutive game with 22 or more. … The Sooners scored more than 40 points in both halves Saturday, giving them 34 40-point halves this season. The Sooners did it 17 times all of last year.
