Oklahoma basketball notebook: Some Texas fans left a little too early

Sooners blow a 22-point lead and lost to Longhorns in overtime.

Just like the 2012 Red River Rivalry football game, Oklahoma sent Texas fans to the door early. And for those who left, it was a shame. They missed a big time comeback.

The Sooners grinded away in the paint with Romero Osby but allowed Steven Pledger to carry equal weight from beyond the arc. With just under 12 minutes remaining in the game, a lot of Texas fans left the arena. Osby and Pledger both had 18 points at the time.

“Maybe next year,” a Texas fan said as he walked up the stairs toward the exit.

But the Longhorns' press, combined with poor OU shooting, led to one of the biggest comebacks of the season. Texas forced overtime, and then came away with a 92-86 victory. Texas trailed by 22 points at one point in the Big 12 game.


It had been a few games, but the Sooners finally converted an alley oop.

It came on a fast break with under 2:30 remaining in the first half. Pledger was standing beyond the arc on the far left side but motioned for Amath M'Baye to look toward the right side of the hoop.
