Oklahoma basketball notebook: Sooners can't contain Kansas State from 3-point range

McGruder went 4 of 9. Spradling went 3 of 6. Rodriguez hit one 3-pointer, but it came at a time when Oklahoma had just pulled within six points at 58-52. The 3 reignited Kansas State's lead, and the Wildcats went on to lead by 10 and win by nine.

“They have the ability to step out and make 3s,” Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger said about the three guards' 3-pointers. “Spradling's a good shouter. Rodriguez adds a few. We were concerned about a lot of things with them but not in their ability to make 3s. They've been a little streaky on the year, but still very capable.”

FIRST-HALF TREYS

The Wildcats hit seven 3-pointers in the first half.

Rodney McGruder set up from almost the same spot on the floor for three straight shots, and the Sooners left him pretty open. He freed himself of Stephen Pledger to make three straight 3-pointers late in the first half.

Kansas State starting guard Shane Southwell shot 2 for 3 in the first half, including the last three points of the half.
