Stacey King, the center on Oklahoma's 1988 Final Four team, got a chance Saturday in Oklahoma's 90-76 victory against Baylor to remember why he loves college basketball.

King was honored during the game by Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione for his achievements during his time at OU. The Sooners gave King a commemorative game ball and showed a highlight reel from his playing time. This year marks the 25th anniversary of OU's Final Four team.

“There's nothing like college basketball,” King said. “I'm at a pro game every night. I was a professional athlete. There's nothing like being on campus and the energy of the student section and the crowd.”

The last time King attended an OU game was about five years ago, when he was doing college basketball commentary for ESPN.

“It's a different feeling when you come back as a fan,” King said. “This has been really the first game I've seen since I was a player. It's an awesome feeling.”

King is now a color commentator for the Chicago Bulls.

“I was part of some special teams here,” he said. “I was part of probably one of the best teams ever in Oklahoma basketball. I played with great players, a great coach and then to come back and see the transformation of the Lloyd Noble Center, that's been the most remarkable thing.”

FOUL FUN

Baylor reserve Gary Franklin had a little fun with Oklahoma fans when he fouled out.

He walked to the bench as they chanted “left, right, left, right along with his steps.

But when it came to saying “sit down,” Franklin half sat, then got up and walked and high-fived a few teammates and proceeded to fake the fans out three more times until he sat down.
