MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Oklahoma women's basketball team fought back from a 17-point deficit, but ran out of gas in a 77-63 loss to West Virginia on Saturday at WVU Coliseum.
Aaryn Ellenberg scored 28 points for the Sooners (11-7, 2-3 Big 12), 17 of those coming in the first half.
OU tied the game 53-53 with 11 minutes to play, but made just three of its next 20 field-goal attempts while West Virginia (16-2, 5-1) pulled away with a 10-0 run.
Christal Caldwell scored 23 points, and Bria Holmes added 21 for the Mountaineers.
Sharane Campbell added 11 points for the Sooners. This is Oklahoma's first 2-3 start in conference play since the 1998-99 season.
Entering Saturday's game, Oklahoma had averaged 80.9 points per game, but was held to 63 points, its second-lowest point total all season.
