The Oklahoma Blood Institute will give away free hotdogs to blood donors on Friday.

The all-beef hotdogs, courtesy of the Oklahoma Beef Council and Bar S Foods, are for anyone who gives blood at any OBI donor center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, OBI spokeswoman Leslie Gamble said.

Donors also will receive their choice of a new 2014 Oklahoma State University or University of Oklahoma donor T-shirt, and a chance to win a pair of tickets to the 2014 Bedlam football game.

OBI often sees a decline in blood donations during the holiday weekends.

“Although we have fun with this event, saving lives of our family, friends and neighbors is a serious matter,” said Dr. John Armitage, OBI president and CEO. “We are grateful for our partners and donors who have taken the time before this holiday weekend to help beef up the blood supply.”

OBI has four Oklahoma City metro-area locations and locations in Ada, Ardmore, Enid, Lawton and Tulsa.
