Oklahoma Board of Education puts nine school districts on probation

The state Board of Education voted on accreditation for schools throughout the state Thursday. Of the nine districts accredited with probation, 20 individual schools within those districts were the cause of the probation.

Central High School, Tulsa Public Schools

Grades: nine through 12.

Reasons: insufficient academic progress.

History: five previous years of insufficient academic progress.

Coolidge Elementary School, Oklahoma City Public Schools

Grades: prekindergarten through five.

Reasons: insufficient academic progress.

History: two previous years of insufficient academic progress.

Durant Intermediate Elementary School, Bryan County

Grades: four through six.

Reasons: insufficient academic progress.

History: first failed to make sufficient academic progress last year.

Geronimo High School, Comanche County

Grades: nine through 12.

Reasons: no written disaster plan and not all school bus drivers have required exams, licenses or certificates.

History: previously accredited, though with some citations.

Grant Public School, Choctaw County

Grades: prekindergarten through five.

Reasons: insufficient academic progress and unknown whether all seventh-graders received appropriate vaccinations.

History: first failed to make sufficient academic progress last year.

Greasy Public School, Adair County

Grades: prekindergarten to eight.

Reasons: substitute teacher problems, lack of tornado drills and no valid license or certificate for required personnel.

History: given a warning last year.

Hugo Middle School, Choctaw County

Grades: six through eight.

Reasons: insufficient academic progress and unknown whether all seventh-graders received appropriate vaccinations.

History: district given a warning last year and 2009-10.

Jay Middle School, Delaware County
