Devon speeds some drilling
Devon Energy Corp. will accelerate drilling in the southern part of its Haynesville Shale holdings because of success in the area. A San Augustine County well has achieved an average continuous 24-hour flow rate of about 30.7 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day, the company said. Devon operates the well with Crimson Exploration Inc. Officials said the well is believed to be the most successful well ever drilled in the Haynesville Shale.
Beard opens stock split
The Beard Co.’s previously announced 2-for-1 common stock split became effective Monday after markets closed. The shares will begin trading on a post-split basis when the market opens today.
Beard Co. President Herb Mee Jr. said the split will boost the number of the
Oklahoma City company’s outstanding shares to about 20 million.
GMX sets energy deal

GMX Resources Inc. has completed a previously announced deal with
Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP. GMX and its wholly owned subsidiary,
Endeavor Pipeline Inc., have transferred midstream gas gathering, compression, and related equipment to a newly formed
Endeavor Gathering LLC, and an affiliate of
Kinder Morgan has purchased a 40 percent membership interest in Endeavor Gathering LLC from GMX for $36 million.
Medicare forum planned

AAON loses profit again
TULSA — Profits fell for the second quarter at
AAON Inc., and the Tulsa company revealed that it has trimmed about a quarter of its work force during 2008, including about 140 people in Tulsa.
