Chesapeake will pay dividend
Chesapeake Energy Corp. will pay a quarterly dividend of 8.75 cents a share on its common stock on April 30, the company announced Tuesday. Chesapeake also will pay dividends ranging from $1.125 to $14.375 a share on its outstanding convertible preferred stock. Those dividends, depending on the stock issue, will be paid May 15 or June 16.
OKC lauded for new businesses
Oklahoma City is one of the best cities in the U.S. to start a business, according WalletHub.com. WalletHub, which describes itself as the leading personal finance social network, ranked Oklahoma City as the 12th best on its 2014 report on the Best and Worst Cities to Start a Business. The report analyzed entrepreneurial opportunities in the 150 largest cities using 14 unique metrics ranging from the affordability of office space to the educational background of the local labor force. Based on WalletHub’s findings, Oklahoma City ranks among the country’s best corporate incubators, in large part because of the city’s hardworking population, the state’s low corporate tax rates and the ease with which local businesses are able to obtain financing.
