Award goes to Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder has won a 2014 CX Innovation Award from the Customer Experience Professionals Association, a nonprofit organization created to guide the field of customer experience management. The award presentations took place at the Customer Experience Professionals Association’s annual Insight Exchange event in Atlanta. A panel of industry experts reviewed a large group of entries to name winners.
OCU Law gets high ranking
Oklahoma City University School of Law graduates are employed at rates comparable to Ivy League schools, according to a recent report by Moody’s Investors Services. The report issued this month ranks all U.S. law schools based on their most recent graduating class’ employment in juris doctorate-required or preferred positions. OCU Law ranked in the first quartile with an 85.8 percent employment rate for its 2013 class. “Employment for our graduates is a top priority for this law school especially in this economy,” said Dean Valerie K. Couch.
Travel outlook improves
About 621,000 Oklahomans are projected to travel over Memorial Day, an increase of 1.7 percent – or 10,500 more travelers – compared to last year, according to AAA Oklahoma’s first travel forecast for the summer. “As the economy continues to improve, disposable income, consumer confidence and the employment outlook are trending up,” AAA spokesman Chuck Mai said. “This is welcome news for travelers as well as the travel industry.” Nearly 527,500 Oklahomans — or 85 percent of holiday travelers — plan to drive to their destination. This represents an increase of 1.2 percent from last year, according to the forecast. About 83,000 Oklahomans plan to fly to their Memorial Day destination, an increase of 3.1 percent from last year.
Bankers group names chief
TULSA — Paul Cornell, president of Citizens Bankshares Inc. in Okemah and president of Spirit BankCorp, Inc. in Tulsa, was inducted as chairman of the Oklahoma Bankers Association at the association’s Annual Convention and Trade Show. Cornell has been associated with Citizens Bankshares Inc. and Spirit BankCorp, Inc. since 1998. Curtis Davidson, president and CEO at First National Bank and Trust Co. of Ardmore, became association vice chairman and will be chairman in 2016.
