Man charged with embezzlement
Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt charged the owner of Cabanas Plus Exotic Poolscapes in Norman in connection with an embezzlement scheme related to the installation of in-ground swimming pools. Stephan (also known as Stephen) Edgar Cook, 40, was charged Thursday with five counts of embezzlement and one count of a pattern of criminal offenses in Cleveland County District Court. Agents began an investigation of the company after receiving numerous complaints from customers who said they paid for work that was never completed. Cook is charged with embezzling more than $1,000 from each homeowner, authorities said. Woman wins credit union contest
Tinker Federal Credit Union member Gaye Etheridge snagged the grand prize in the credit union's Get Going contest. The Konawa resident won more than $2,000 worth of gasoline. Tinker Federal Credit Union received more than 30,000 entries to the contest online, in the mail and at its branches during the 11-week promotion. The credit union also awarded $100 gas cards to 27 winners.
Executive's fundraising honored
The Dean McGee Eye Institute's vice president of development has been recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Oklahoma chapter. Lana Ivy was named the 2013 Mike McDonald Outstanding Professional Fundraiser, the top honor given by the organization to recognize a local professional for excellence in philanthropic fundraising. Dr. Gregory Skuta, president and chief executive of the institute, said Ivy's fundraising efforts were vital to the completion of the new $46 million research and clinical facility.
