Unit Corp completes
Bakken Shale deal
TULSA — Unit Corp. has completed its $228 million sale of acreage in the oil-rich Bakken Shale, the company announced Friday. Subsidiary Unit Petroleum Corp. sold about a third of its acreage in the play to QEP Energy, a subsidiary of QEP Resources Inc. “This is a strategic divestiture of certain of our noncore properties,” CEO Larry D. Pinkston said. “The proceeds from this sale of properties will be applied against bank debt, enhancing our overall liquidity for future growth opportunities.”
Coalition assists with
scholarship program
The Made in Oklahoma Coalition has donated $15,000 to the Oklahoma Grocers Education Foundation for its scholarship program, which runs from January to March each year. Recipients receive yearlong scholarships worth $500 to $1,000 each. “This endowment will benefit students throughout the state,” said Ron Edgmon, president and chief executive of the Oklahoma Grocers Association. “We are thrilled MIO has decided to contribute to our foundation and support the next generation of leaders in Oklahoma's grocery industry.”
