Aeronautics grants exceed $100K

The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission recently awarded more than $100,000 in funding to area educational programs. A $52,000 grant was given to Sooner Flight Academy in Norman to provide scholarships for students to attend the academy's camps and aviation science classes next summer. Starbase Oklahoma will receive $30,000 for its STEM Enrichment Through Aerospace Education Program. A $13,500 grant was approved for the Stafford Air & Space Museum in Weatherford. Grants in the amount of $5,000 will be given to FIRST Robotics for its annual competition and the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence for teachers to attend the Aerospace Education and Industry Partnership Day at the Oklahoma Aerospace & Defense Summit and Expo. A $2,000 grant was awarded to Francis Tuttle Technology Center for its pre-engineering academy.
