Financial fitness kits available

As part of National Financial Capability Month, the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants in April is offering free Financial Fitness Kits through public libraries, Tinker Federal Credit Union branches and online at The society’s free kits include sections on establishing a budget, managing money in the military, understanding insurance basics, facing family issues, preparing for and overcoming a crisis and more. This is the seventh year the society has partnered with libraries for kit distribution.

Black Mesa medals at event

Oklahoma-based brewers Black Mesa Brewing Co. claimed a gold medal for its Endless Skyway Bitter at the 2014 World Beer Cup, the world’s most prestigious beer competition. The global beer competition presented by the Brewers Association evaluates beers in 91 style categories. Black Mesa was awarded the gold medal from among 57 entries in the Extra Special Bitter category. Extra Special Bitters are English-style ales closely related to pale ales. Black Mesa is only the second brewery from Oklahoma to medal at the competition and the first to receive a gold. Oklahoma’s Choc Beer Co. also claimed a silver medal in the German-Style Sour Ale category with its Signature Gose.
