Trafficking bill advances
A House committee passed a bill Wednesday that would allow human trafficking victims clear certain criminal records. The House of Representatives Public Safety Committee voted 10-0 to pass House Bill 1058. The measure now goes to the full House. The bill, by Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, would let victims of sex trafficking seek to void prostitution convictions.
Boat safety measure fails
A bill that would have expanded boater education classes sunk at a committee hearing Wednesday. The House Public Safety Committee voted 7-4 not to pass House Bill 1463, which would have required anyone born after Jan. 1, 1992, to complete boater education safety training before operating any boat. It also would have prohibited people under the age of 12 from operating any boat powered by a motor in excess of 10 horsepower.
