At stake: Senate Bill 1053 would require registered roofing contractors to file a $30,000 bond with the state Construction Industries Board. The bond would provide reimbursement for any loss or damages caused by a roofing-related service performed by the contractor or a person acting on the contractor's behalf.

What happened: Passed the House, 51-41.
