When the university made the decision to switch from Dell to Apple products for its mobile computing program, the iPhone was seen as a natural addition to the MacBook laptops it decided to distribute to every fulltime student.
The school began distributing the iPhone or its iPod Touch twin on Saturday, and students were clearly excited to begin their fall semester with the new technology. Aviane Wait, a freshman from Edmond, declared the phone to be "awesome” as she powered it up for the first time.
How much did the iPhone influence her decision to enroll at OC?
"I signed up for OC way before they announced the iPhone program,” Wait said.
Her mother, Kim Grape, said the iPhone was just a "perk” for Aviane and other enrolling students.
"She came here because she's interested in the missions program,” Grape said. "This is just a small perk of it. I could care less if this stuff came along with it or not.”
For more on the OC program, see Page 2B.

Nathan... Come on, wake up. Church and religion in general has turned into big business, a profit generating organization. It's about the money now.
I'm sure you could find a way to criticize anything those "yuppie Christians' did or didn't do.
How many starving people have you fed today?...this month?...ever?
It's not the "christian's" job to save the world, rid it of hunger, poverty, war or even sin, for that matter. A "christian's" job is to reflect and point others to Jesus Christ, the only one who has the power to take the brokenness of this life/ world and turn it into salvation for the life to come.
I can understand utilizing technology for learning, and computers are a must have in college and even high schools now days. But why are they taking it to this extreme? Costs are up enough with education!
