Oklahoma Christian School football: Lineman Preston Draelos working toward going to West Point

Oklahoma Christian School coach Derek Turner has been impressed with the intelligence of his football team this season. Among that group is senior lineman Preston Draelos.

Oklahoma Christian School coach Derek Turner has been impressed with the intelligence of his football team this season.

For good reason, too.

The Saints have multiple players with ACT scores in the low 30s and some in the high 20s, and it’s something he feels will help on the field.

Senior lineman Preston Draelos is certainly one of them as he looks to gain admittance into West Point next year.

Draelos talked with The Oklahoman about his aspirations and the upcoming season.

Q: Why did you choose to work toward West Point?

Well I’ve always liked that idea of serving my country and being a part of the military. Last summer I really started thinking about the Army. All branches are great, but that seemed to really have a connection with me. I thought about West Point about last August and immediately dismissed the idea because I was like, “There was no way I would get in.” last November I decided to go for it because I would regret it the rest of my life if I didn’t. Since then I just really started focusing on academics, getting my ACT score up and getting involved in the community.
