Oklahoma Christian will find out on Friday if it has been invited to begin the process to become an NCAA Division II member.

If approved, OC will begin a three-year process toward becoming a full member and would enter the Heartland Conference in the 2014-15 academic year. OC will not be permitted to compete in NCAA conference or national championships until the process is completed.

OC left the NAIA and Sooner Athletic Conference on June 30 and will join the National Christian College Athletic Association, the NCCAA announced in a press release Tuesday.

Twenty-two national championships and eight national invitationals are held by the NCCAA each year. 114 schools are affiliated with the association as of the 2012-13 academic year.

OC has been a member of the NAIA since the 1960s and was a founding member of SAC.
