Oklahoma City-area churches offer back-to-school activities, giveaways

Several Oklahoma City-area churches are offering back-to-school activities and giveaways.

Several metro-area churches are hosting back-to-school activities and school supply giveaway events.

Free health screenings and haircuts along with backpacks and school supplies will be offered at the third annual “Day of Hope” presented by People’s Church on Aug. 2.

Church leaders said the event will be at Douglass High School. The school supply and backpack giveaway is geared for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The health screenings, sports physicals, dental screenings and haircuts will be offered to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

People’s Church has two campuses: 800 E Britton Road in Oklahoma City and 351 N Air Depot Blvd. in Midwest City.

The following events are free, unless otherwise noted:

“Day of Hope” backpack giveaway and back-to-school event sponsored by People’s Church, 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 2, Douglass High School, 900 N Martin Luther King. To donate medical or school supplies, call 775-9991. Information:

“Slip-N-Slide Back-to-School” outreach hosted by Family of Faith Church, 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 2 at the church, 13500 SE 15, Choctaw. Backpacks, school supplies and nearly new clothing giveaway for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Hot dogs, water activities and inflatables also featured. Information: 769-8751 or
