Counselors can learn ‘cinema’ technique
NORMAN — Norman Addiction Information and Counseling will sponsor a workshop on “Cinema Therapy” from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. June 6 at 215 W Linn St. The workshop is designed to teach participants how to incorporate music and film in the therapeutic process. Presenter William Warner is a licensed professional counselor. The training is approved for three continuing education credits. Registration is $45 through June 2 and $55 after that. Student earns winners recital slot
Gabriela Weigel, a 2014 graduate of St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, will perform during the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association state conference, which is Thursday through Saturday in Tulsa. Weigel, a lyric coloratura soprano from Irving, Texas, was an upper division winner of the association’s Collegiate Competition. This will be her second year to perform at the conference. She was a vocal student of Don Clark. The winners recital is at 4 p.m. Friday in Gussman Concert Hall at the University of Tulsa.
Lankford to address Edmond chamber of commerce
EDMOND — U.S. Rep. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, will address the Edmond business community at the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce Membership Luncheon, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 5 at Oak Tree Country Club. He is running for the unexpired term of U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Reservations can be made at www.edmondchamber.com.
