Oklahoma City area housing stats climb in 2012
This year was almost all uphill — in a good way — for housing in Oklahoma City. Demand, sales, prices and construction all were up in 2012.

In 2012, builders and Realtors dug completely out from the bottom of 2009, when just 3,380 building permits were issued in Oklahoma City, Edmond, Midwest City, Moore and Norman.
Builders blew the cobwebs off those 3-year-old stats and knocked the socks off last year's numbers.
In 2012, builders in the metro area started 4,320 houses through November, up 32.1 percent from the same period in 2011, according to the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association.
In fact, the permits issued through November this year were 20.7 percent more than in all of last year.
More good news
For their part, Realtors through November sold homes valued at $2.75 billion, a 20 percent increase compared with $2.29 billion in the same period in 2011.
The average price of homes handled by Realtors — not counting those sold directly by owners or builders — was about $163,300 through November, up 3 percent from $158,400 in the same period in 2011.
The bottom line for homebuilding and sales in 2012: Lop December off the calendar, and this year was still a big improvement over last.
