Breakfast to benefit Elks Lodge

Enjoy an all-you-can-eat pancakes breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Nov. 10 to benefit the programs of the Midwest City Elks Lodge #1890 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, located at 8635 SE 15 in Midwest City.

Cost is $5 per person for ages 13 and older; Children 12 and younger eat free.

Proceeds benefit Lodge programs, including the various programs of the Youth Activities Committee — Americanism Essay Contest, Drug Awareness program in local elementary schools, Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot and the Scholarship Program; the Veterans Affairs Program; the Christmas Basket Program and other community-oriented events.

Fifth annual Fall into Fashion Charity Show to benefit family

The fifth annual Fall Into Fashion Charity Show on Thursday at Spring Creek Plaza will show off the latest fashion trends and raise money to help a family whose twins were diagnosed this year with a rare genetic disorder.

The pre-fashion show and gift basket raffle will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and the fashion show will begin at 7 p.m. at Spring Creek Plaza, 1484 S Bryant Ave., in Edmond.

Proceeds go to the family of twins Griffin and Logan Chill, son of Karlee and Jeff Chill. Logan Chill died in August at nearly 2 after a battle with Alpers' Syndrome, a progressive neurodevelopmental syndrome caused by a genetic mutation. His twin brother Griffin also has Alpers'.

Science museum to celebrate chemistry with special activities

Science Museum Oklahoma will host Chemistry Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 2, when special activities will be dedicated to chemistry.

Chemistry Day is the first of three museum “holidays” celebrated during the school year and is sponsored by The Oklahoman. Activities are included with general admission to the museum. ‘Purple Purse' raises money for domestic violence survivors

An Enid insurance agent is participating in The Allstate Foundation's effort to raise $250,000 for survivors of domestic violence.

David Burrows, owner of an Allstate Agency in Enid, is one of the agents who is part of “Join Together to Pass the Purple Purse” to benefit the YWCA.

Registering at Facebook.com/PurplePurse triggers a $5 donation. Burrows will be passing an actual purple purse throughout the community until Oct. 31 to raise more money.
