Home auction helps fund charity

— Make-A-Wish of Oklahoma can grant the wishes of more than 60 critically ill children thanks to a first-of-a-kind home auction that raised $500,000. The high bid for a newly built home in The Villas of Spring Creek neighborhood was matched by a donation from a longtime Make-A-Wish supporter, resulting in the largest single donation of the year for the charity. The home was donated by Owasso-based Simmons Homes with the support of more than 45 suppliers. Williams & Williams Worldwide Real Estate Auction donated marketing and auction services. More than 50 people attended the auction. “We are so grateful for this generous donation from Simmons with the help of Williams & Williams,” said Jeff Summers, CEO of Make-A-Wish Oklahoma. “This gift will impact the lives of local children, and so much more. When the chain of giving is started, it is amazing what you can accomplish.”

Chesapeake sells Fort Worth HQ

Chesapeake Energy Corp. has sold its Fort Worth, Texas, headquarters to Houston-based developer Hines and will consolidate employees on the 20th floor, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Dallas Business Journal. Chesapeake put the building on the market in 2012. Pier 1 Imports, the Fort Worth-based home decor retailer that originally built the building for its headquarters, will occupy the other 19 floors, some 313,000 square feet of space. The building will be renamed the Pier 1 Imports Building. Terms of the sale to Hines were not disclosed. Chesapeake ran its Barnett Shale operations out of the building. “Through this sale, Chesapeake continues its strategy of divesting non-core assets to optimize operational efficiency and focus on our business of energy exploration and production,” Gordon Pennoyer, a Chesapeake spokesman, told the Star-Telegram.
