Reed Center hosts green summit
MIDWEST CITY — The Oklahoma Green Building Summit for residential and commercial builders, Realtors, architects, engineers and others in construction will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Midwest City's Reed Center. Early registration is $50. A half-day session in Tulsa will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Homebuilders Association of Greater Tulsa, geared just for homebuilders. Registration is $25. Educational tracks will be offered to commercial builders, residential builders, HVAC/code enforcement and appraisers and Realtors. Continuing education credits will be available from the state Construction Industries Board for home inspectors and code officials, as well as Certified Green Professionals, Certified Professional Builders and Realtors. Realtors can earn up to one-third of their Green designation with this class.

Tour of garden areas set
Six gardens and outdoor living areas will be featured 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the 2012 Garden Tour for Connoisseurs presented by the Oklahoma Horticultural Society. Homes are in Oklahoma City's Crown Heights, Edgemere Heights and Mesta Park neighborhoods. Addresses of the tour stops along with a map and detailed descriptions of each garden are in a tour brochure available at ticket locations. In addition to the six homes on the tour, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the Chesapeake Energy employee garden. Tickets are available at Marcum's Nursery, 2121 SW 119; Nonna's Painted Door, 1 S Mickey Mantle Drive; Precure Nursery, 8125 W Reno and 4535 NW 63; TLC Garden Center, 105 W Memorial and 8208 Northwest Expressway; Wilshire Garden Market, 2821 W Wilshire; Wild Birds Unlimited, 6409 N Olie Ave.; Farmers Grain Co., 102 W First St., Edmond; and The Greenhouse, 1708 24th Ave. SW, Norman.
