Oklahoma City area schools closed as weather service predicts freezing rain in the metro by 7 a.m.
The National Weather Service predicts that freezing rain could hit the metro area before 7 a.m., as a strong upper storm system combines with a cold Canadian airmass to produce a major winter storm over the state.

Because of the severe weather, many metro schools, including Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, Mid-Del, Mustang and Yukon schools are closed today.
Significant accumulations of ice will be possible especially across portions of southwest and central Oklahoma, forecasters say.
