Promising Edmonton Oilers' farmhand defenseman Brandon Davidson has testicular cancer.

The Oilers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons, announced the news Thursday.

Davidson, who cracked the Barons roster in his first pro shot after serving as captain of the Western Junior Hockey League's Regina Pats last season, will begin treatment immediately at The Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center in downtown Oklahoma City.
