Oklahoma City Barons notebook: Barons finally get a shootout win

“You try to get them to make the first move and react as fast you can,” Roy said. “I don't play often. It's a great feeling when you get to play and help the boys.”
NUGENT-HOPKINS TEAM CANADA UPDATE
Barons center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, playing with Team Canada at the world junior tournament in Russia, scored a goal and added an assist Friday in a 6-3 win over Slovakia.
Nugent-Hopkins, who has scored 20 points in 19 games with the Barons, has seven points in two games. Team Canada's next game is at 3:30 a.m. Oklahoma time against Team USA. Games are being televised on the NHL network.

Barons center Chris VandeVelde has been suspended three games for an illegal check to the head during OKC's win Thursday over the Texas Stars. ... Select members of the Barons will skate Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Devon outdoor rink at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City.
