Edmonton Oilers chief operating officer Patrick Laforge and president of hockey operations Kevin Lowe attended the Barons' game Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center.

“That's why we have an AHL franchise so guys can develop and get some good coaching to get to the NHL. Not all of them but we have our eye on a few of them,” Laforge said. “We have some holes to fill. Kevin wanted to see a couple of them and see how much they've improved.”

ANOTHER CHALLENGING 3-IN-3 DAYS

For the second consecutive weekend the Barons will play three games in three days. This time, OKC played the first two games at home against Rockford and bused eight hours to San Antonio for a 4:30 p.m. Sunday matinee.

It's not as hectic as last weekend when the Barons played Saturday night in the Austin area, then boarded a flight to Charlotte, N.C., for a Sunday matinee and Monday night game. But this trip also has challenges considering the daylight saving time change and middle-of-the-night arrival.

“We have to eat well, rehydrate and get as much rest as we can on the bus,” said Barons forward Philippe Cornet. “It's not easy, but every team in the league goes through it. We're not the only ones. There are no excuses. After these two losses we need a win.”
