Scouting report: The Barons are the hottest team in the AHL, going 9-2-1 in their last dozen games to climb to ninth in the Western Conference, three points behind Milwaukee and five behind Rochester, the two teams that currently own the final two playoff spots. Mark Arcobello, the Barons’ all-time leading scorer, is the reigning AHL Player of the Week. Arcobello has scored 19 points in nine games since being re-assigned to OKC. Anton Lander is among the league’s top 25 scorers (43 points in 40 games). ... Brad Hunt is sixth among blue-line scorers. Goalie Richard Bachman’s overall stats have dipped (3.11 goals against average, .908 saves percentage), but he’s been in net for all but one game during the hot streak. Utica, returning to the AHL after a 20-year hiatus, is the Vancouver Canucks’ Triple-A franchise that moved from Peoria. Mired in 14th in the Western Conference, the Comets need a late-season surge. The Comets are led by Pascal Pelletier (44 points) and Benn Ferriero (39 points). Joacim Eriksson (17-17-2, 2.53 GAA, .914 saves percentage) is one of the AHL’s top goalies.
