Oklahoma City Barons take part in Hockey Weekend Across America

BARONS — Oklahoma City's AHL team is inviting fans to wear their jersey to work Friday and kids to try hockey Saturday as part of the team's observance of Hockey Weekend Across America. The events coincide with the Barons' three-game homestand, which starts Friday.

The Oklahoma City Barons are inviting fans to wear their Barons jerseys to work Friday in conjunction with Hockey Weekend Across America.

Fans who wear their jersey to work can upload a picture to the Barons Facebook page or to the Barons website on Friday. Everyone who uploads a picture will be entered for a chance of winning a VIP experience at a Barons game this season. That includes use of a suite for four people, an autographed stick and a chance to participate in a fan experience.

Hockey Weekend Across America coincides with a three-game homestand at Cox Convention Center. The Barons face Milwaukee at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and San Antonio at 4 p.m. Sunday.

This Saturday, Arctic Edge in Edmond and Blazers Ice Centre in south Oklahoma City are hosting Try Hockey for Free Day. Youngsters age 5-12 will have the chance to try hockey for free. Registration at Arctic Edge starts at noon. Registration at Blazers Ice Centre starts at 2:15 p.m.
