Even though most of the donations came $1 at a time, employees of Love's Travel Stops nationwide managed to raise $2 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Oklahoma City-based Love's on Monday announced the donation that will benefit 92 hospitals across the country.
“I can't say enough about the commitment our team members have for helping sick and injured kids in their communities and for the overwhelming generosity of our customers,” CEO Tom Love said. “We have a company of difference-makers and the best customers who keep coming back each year and opening their pocketbooks for CMN Hospitals. We are very appreciative.”
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals were thankful for Love's ongoing support, CEO John Lauck said.
“Love's has been an exceptional partner for 15 years, and they are instrumental in helping us make miracles happen for children and families across the U.S.,” he said.
This year's donation was a record for Love's, whose employees spent five weeks raising money at the company's 304 locations and elsewhere.
Employees sold paper hearts for donations and organized grassroots fundraising events ranging from golf tournaments, bake sales, cookouts and concerts. Some managers shaved their heads, took pies in the face and kissed pigs to motivate their teams to raise more money.
Over the past 15 years, Love's has raised $9.5 million to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
