Oklahoma City breaks record for most 100-degree days
The previous record for Oklahoma City's most 100-degree days in a year was 50 days. It was set in 1980.
Oklahoma City has broken its record for most 100-degree days in one year, as the temperature reached 101 degrees at Will Rogers World Airport Monday for the 51st time this year.

Oklahoma City set a new heat record when temperatures topped the the century mark Monday afternoon, Aug. 22, making it the 51st day in 2011 when the temperature exceeded 100 degrees. Letter carrier Anthony Belton sorts mail near his truck before delivering the mail to homes in the 600 block on NW 92 on Monday. A mailman for five years, he said he tolerates working in the heat by wearing a wide-brimmed hat, shorts and drinking lots of water. He lifted his hat to reveal about a dozen ice cubes inside it. by Jim Beckel, The Oklahoman.
