Oklahoma City brokers on board with Xceligent Inc.

With further consolidation under way among online commercial real estate data providers, Xceligent Inc. is “poised to move ahead faster than ever,” founder and CEO Doug Curry said.

Xceligent Inc., a national online real estate data company, gets by with a little help from its local, local, local friends.

It's one of the handful of online commercial realty marketplaces to survive not only the dot-com bust a dozen years ago but also the wreckage of the recession. Xceligent tracks all office and industrial properties in Oklahoma City and 30-some other markets.

Now, with further consolidation under way — CoStar Group Inc.'s pending acquisition of LoopNet Inc. — Xceligent is “poised to move ahead faster than ever,” founder and CEO Doug Curry said.

CoStar, based in Bethesda, Md., starting collecting market information here in 2004 and by 2006 had attracted most of the city's largest commercial real estate firms. San Francisco-based LoopNet Inc., which relies on brokers to submit information, also showed up in Oklahoma in 2006.

In 2007, Xceligent, based in Independence, Mo., arrived — with LoopNet as its primary investor/funding partner — and attracted CoStar's clients and other firms as the online realty data industry continued to shake out, said Brian Hunt, Xceligent's regional director for Oklahoma.

What really strengthened Xceligent's position in Oklahoma City was its local partnership with Real Estate Appraisal Data Inc., a group of 20-plus local appraisal companies that came together in the mid-1990s, to make reams of appraisal data available, said industrial broker Bob Puckett of Price Edwards & Co.

Puckett is one of numerous brokers from local firms on Xceligent advisory boards. Hunt said the boards meet quarterly to clarify statistics and give them context. Xceligent tracks all industrial and office buildings, owner-occupied as well as properties for lease or for sale.
