The Oklahoma Film Institute at Oklahoma City Community College will present its annual OFI Cinema Clinics June 20 through July 29.
The program consists of a series of five, three-day clinics held on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (excluding the July 4 holiday), and will cover motion picture production, script writing, directing, cinematography and editing.

“We believe the clinic design allows people to enter the areas of filmmaking that interest them, requiring less time and tuition,” said Artist-in-Residence Gray Frederickson.
Frederickson is an Oscar-winning producer whose films include the “Godfather” trilogy, “Apocalypse Now,” “One From the Heart” and “The Outsiders.”
June 20, 21, 22 — Production: Students will be taught about organizing a project from script clearances, breakdowns, schedules, budgets, preproduction, accounting, labor relations, postproduction, distribution, marketing, tax credits, rebates, etc. Instructor: Frederickson.
June 27, 28, 29 — Script Writing: Students will be taught all of the requirements needed for writing a professional screenplay, including format, structure, character development, target audience, and even copyright registration and script clearances. It will be taught by Emmy Award-winning writer/director Greg Mellott.
July 11, 12, 13 — Directing: The theory and practical approach to directing a movie or documentary will be taught in this three-day course. Instructor: Mellott.
July 18, 19, 20 — Cinematography: All aspects of shooting in a digital world will be studied in this course. Students will have hands-on experience operating the latest industry standard lighting equipment and hi-def cameras, including the state of the art red camera. Instructor: Dave Green.
July 25, 26, 27 — Editing: Instruction in editing will be provided in the Oklahoma City Community College's new state of the art Avid Editing Lab. Students will learn the fundamentals of nonlinear editing on new Avid Media Composers, the standard in the cinema and commercial industry. Instructor: TBA.
