Oklahoma City council calls for MAPS 3 election

City leaders rallied toward a MAPS 3 election Tuesday amid criticism from public safety unions and opposition from a city councilman.

Oklahoma City Council members voted 7-1 to call a Dec. 8 election for MAPS 3. A final vote on the election will be Sept. 29.

Coalition supporters
The Yes for MAPS Coalition is chaired by Mayor Mick Cornett. Former Mayors Ron Norick and Kirk Humphreys are co-treasurers. The coalition lists its supporters to date as Neighborhood Alliance of Central Oklahoma, American Institute of Architects Central Oklahoma Chapter, Oklahoma City All Sports Association, Oklahoma City Beautiful, Bricktown Association, Triathlon Club of Oklahoma City, Greater Oklahoma City Metro Hotel Association, Asian District Association, Olympic Sports Engagement Committee, 2012: Friends of the Oklahoma River, Downtown Oklahoma City Inc., Capitol Hill Main Street, Oklahomans for New Transportation Alternatives Coalition, Modern Transit Project, Chesapeake Junior Crew, Oklahoma Transit Association, Oklahoma Municipal Contractors Association and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber.
