Oklahoma City DJ Duo Crystal Vision to Perform at SXSW 2013

Earlier this week I had the chance to chat with the members of Crystal Vision to see what they had on the books for SXSW 2013; This Duo practically invented party. Enjoy -Kerry Myers

1.) What are your scheduled dates at SXSW 2013?
Friday – Warpath Showcase 9pm at Recess – 6th & San Jacinto

Sat – Silent Disco 9pm at Rowdy – 604 Neches St

Plus two more unannounced shows

2.) Is it normal for Crystal Vision to perform at SXSW? This is a huge deal. How long have you been involved and what keeps you coming back?

We have been attending and participating in SXSW events for about 4 years now as crystal vision. It seems every year we somehow get booked more and have more opportunities. This year I definitely feel the pressure as an artist there with the nervousness and anxiety before hand haha I will have to say I still to this day get stage fright but that kind of is what pushes me to move further. The first year was definitely an experience, we’ve met people that really have made a name for themselves and watching that happen over time makes me glad things like SXSW happen because it really helps the artists get in touch with people and you run into people that have the same idea. And of course IT’S ONE HUGE STREET FULL OF PARTIES and that’s any DJs dream haha. Plus I have seen alot of bands I adore there. I also get to meet up with my friends across the globe that participate in the events aswell.

3.) Do you have any special expectations this year? For instance, are there any artists that are on your “must-see” list?

I think every year I expect craziness haha. I haven’t had one SXSW where I ended up backstage to a diplo show by accident or in the green room of Kid Sister and drunkenly (responsibly) not noticed and had wierd pictures show up later or something you know. But this year I honestly I feel like we’ve come more prepared. We have released alot of stuff just this year so far and we have alot of new things to play and hopefully people will enjoy. I never show up really expecting to see any certain artist I really just like roaming around and taking the advice from people on who to see and truly discover the wonders of how sociable SXSW can be for musicians and fans. I mean who knows we might leave with a fan base we never had before. I just really hope there are some people that are going to have a really good time and make it another unforgettable/blurry memory/running around/ huge party weekend!! Just always make sure you at least have a party buddy! I’ve actually been lost at SXSW once and luckily got a mile piggy by ride from a good friend of mine who is also a DJ and producer, Daniel Rockwell.
