Months before an Oklahoma City doctor was charged with sexual battery and rape, the two women who accuse him of inappropriately touching them during examinations filed civil lawsuits against him.

John A. Fuller, 60, has two medical negligence and one civil assault and battery lawsuits pending in Oklahoma County District Court.

The gynecologist and pain management specialist was charged Wednesday with a count of sexual battery and a count of first-degree rape by instrumentation in Oklahoma County.

Fuller was booked into the Oklahoma County jail Thursday morning and released on $30,000 bail, jailers said. He was arraigned Thursday afternoon.

The woman who filed the civil assault and battery lawsuit stated that Fuller put his hand down her shorts and touched her genitals without medical reason for doing so, according to the probable cause affidavit and civil petition filed last July.

The woman had been seeking treatment for back pain, records show.

Another woman sued Fuller in December, claiming that he touched her genitals and made sexual comments toward her while doing so.

The woman, who was being treated for depression, anxiety and weight gain, is suing Fuller for medical negligence.

Another medical negligence lawsuit was filed against Fuller in October. The man was treated by Fuller in late 1994.

Several other civil lawsuits have been filed against Fuller over the years.

A 2008 professional negligence suit was settled in 2010, court records show. Terms of the settlement are not public record.

Two medical negligence lawsuits filed against the doctor in 2003 also were dismissed, according to court records.

Fuller’s wife filed for divorce in November 2012.
