OKC DU banquet on Friday

The Oklahoma City Ducks Unlimited fall banquet will be Friday at the National Cowboy Hall and Western Heritage Museum, 1700 NE 63{+r}{+d} St.


Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets can be bought online at ducks.org.

DU members are asked to bring their membership cards or numbers. For more information, call Bill Townsend at 850-9184.

Fly fishing clinic at Tenkiller State Park

The annual Illinois River Fly Fishing School will be Feb. 18 and 19.

Instructors Mark Patton and Tom Adams will be teaching a two-day clinic on fly fishing in Tenkiller State Park and on the banks of the Illinois River.

Cost of the course is $150. For more information, call 340-1992.

Duck season open across Oklahoma

Duck season is now open statewide with Saturday's opener in duck hunting zone two.

"On the bad side, warm weather has so far kept birds farther north of us, and an unusual dry stretch has wetland habitat in many areas in poor condition," said Josh Richardson, migratory game bird biologist with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

"On the good side, this was another banner production year in the prairie pothole region and the birds will have to come through at some point. They may not stay for long."
