Oklahoma City Energy FC has signed Adnan Gabeljic, the team announced on Thursday. Gabeljic was previously with Energy FC’s MLS affiliate Sporting Kansas City in the preseason.

Gabeljic, who plays forward, is a Croatian native but grew up in St. Louis, Mo. earning Missouri 3A Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 before beginning his career at the University of St. Louis.

Energy FC (2-3-0) heads to Orlando for a rematch with the defending USL Pro champions on Sunday. Orlando City SC defeated Oklahoma City 2-1 last Saturday in Oklahoma City.

Gabeljic becomes the seventh forward on the Energy FC roster. Coach Jimmy Nielsen said before the season started the team wasn’t done filling its roster, which now has 23 players.

Nielsen said the team could benefit in practice with more competition for playing time.

Gabeljic scored 14 goals in his career at St. Louis before being drafted 38th overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by Sporting KC.
