Oklahoma City Energy FC dropped a 2-1 soccer decision to Arizona United on Thursday night at Pribil Stadium.
Arizona wasted no time jumping all over Energy FC, scoring in the fourth minute. Jonathan Top brought a cross down right in front of Energy FC goalkeeper Samir Badr and punched it through to give Arizona the early 1-0 lead. Arizona goalkeeper Evan Newton made a handful of tremendous saves to turn away Energy FC’s chances throughout the match.
Energy FC dug itself into a deeper hole in the second half when defender Cyprian Hedrick committed a foul in the 74th minute that gave Arizona a penalty kick. Sam Garza slid one past Badr for the second score. Energy FC forward Adda Djeziri got a goal back just two minutes later to give the home side a bit of hope. But Energy FC failed to get anything else past Newton, who finished with eight saves.
Energy FC, which remains tied for seventh place, hosts Los Angeles Galaxy II at 7 p.m. Saturday.
