Oklahoma City Energy FC got back on the pitch after a two week layoff last Saturday and extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh Riverhounds FC.
United Soccer League’s Pro Division released its Team of the Week for Week 17 and Energy FC defender Gareth Evans and midfielder Adda Djeziri were among the selections.
Dan Delgado and Michael Thomas took honorable mention for the week. Both midfielders, Delgado and Thomas each scored a goal in Energy FC’s win.
Djeziri got the nod for team of the week for the third time this season after assisting on both of Energy FC’s goals. Djeziri, a native of Copenhagen, Denmark, also earned a place on the team for week 4 and week 13.
Evans had another stellar performance in Energy FC’s back line. Pittsburgh took 13 shots on Saturday night but only two were on goal. Evans, who is from Wrexham, Wales, also earned recognition in week 13.
Energy FC finishes its six-game homestand this week with two matches. The last two teams to defeat Energy FC will both make their way to Pribil Stadium.
Arizona United, who topped Energy FC 2-1 in extra time in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on May 28, will take on Energy FC on Thursday night.
And Los Angeles Galaxy II will make its first ever trip to Oklahoma City on Saturday night. Los Angeles defeated Energy FC 5-0 on May 24, Energy FC’s last regular season loss.
