You either win, or you learn. You never lose.

That’s the message Oklahoma City Energy FC goalkeeper Jon Kempin has taken to heart. The Sporting Kansas City loanee said he has learned a lot in two months with Oklahoma City.

Kempin played the full 90 minutes in goal in each of Energy FC’s matches during its six-game losing streak that spanned more than a month. With Oklahoma City in next-to-last place and having allowed more goals than any other team in the United Soccer League’s Pro division, the tables finally turned.

Oklahoma City (3-7-2) hasn’t lost a match in its last three and hosts Sacramento Republic FC at 7 p.m. Saturday at Pribil Stadium on the campus of Bishop McGuinness High School.

Energy FC has picked up five standings points in the last three matches. It had just six points in the first two months of the season.

“You can definitely see we’re a lot more comfortable together,” Kempin said. “We know each other’s styles of play. We’re starting to really jell. Obviously the results are starting to show. I think we’re learning from all of those goals, all those losses. Even the ties, even the wins. It’s a young team if you look at the age, and it’s a brand new team so we’re all learning from every experience. I’m definitely learning from it.”
