The United Soccer League’s Pro division named its Team of the Week for Week 12 on Tuesday and Oklahoma City Energy FC goalkeeper Jon Kempin earned his place on the list.
Kempin played the full 90 minutes in Oklahoma City’s 2-2 draw with the Wilmington Hammerheads FC last Friday in Wilmington, N.C. Brian Span of Orlando City was named Player of the Week.
Kempin is a Sporting Kansas City loanee and tied a career high in saves last Friday, making five stops. In 10 games this season, Kempin has 33 saves and boasts a 2.2 goals allowed average.
Forward Kyle Greig and midfielder Steven Perry earned honorable mention for this week’s team. Greig scored his fourth goal of the season in Friday’s game at Wilmington, where the Olathe, Kan., native earned team Rookie of the Year last season.
Perry, a Bishop McGuinness alum, scored his second goal of the season on Saturday night in Charlotte, helping Oklahoma City earn a second point in as many days with a 1-1 draw.
