Oklahoma City Energy FC announced on Tuesday it has signed forward Javier Castro to a contract.

Castro has been working out with the team during training for around three weeks. Mikey Lopez was recalled from his loan by Sporting Kansas City, Energy FC’s MLS affiliate, earlier this month clearing room for Castro.

Castro played his college soccer at UC Santa Barbara and most recently played with the L.A. Misioneros of the Premiere Development League.

Castro has experience with the L.A. Galaxy’s Under-20 team as well as spending a year overseas with Arsenal FC’s U-18 Academy team.

Energy FC returns to action on Saturday after a two week long layoff. Energy FC faces the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and looks to extend its six match unbeaten streak. The expansion side is currently in eight place in the United Soccer League’s Pro division standings with a 5-7-3 record. Pittsburgh is 3-9-5.
