Oklahoma City exhibit features photos by Stanley Marcus and granddaughter

Photographs by the legendary merchandiser Stanley Marcus will be on exhibit alongside photos by his granddaughter, Allison V. Smith, for the first time from Jan. 25 through March 30 at Artspace at Untitled, 1 NE 3.
Marcus, formerly president of Neiman Marcus, quietly shot photographs during his international travels with the company.
Mentored by her grandfather throughout her journey from amateur to professional photographer, Smith currently is a photojournalist and magazine photographer living and working in Dallas.
When, in the late '90s, Marcus gifted Smith with 5,000 slides of his photography, Smith understood the importance of the photos. They reflect 1950s Parisian life, high-society parties and family gatherings as well as provide an intimate portrait of Marcus' first-hand view of fashion in mid-century America.
“Reflection of a Man: The Photographs of Stanley Marcus” is the book that resulted from these photographs. The exhibition at Artspace at Untitled, which contains 64 prints, will be the first in which both artists' photographs have been shown together.
